Raiders News Update -- It was a bit of a surprise to say the least, receiving a letter from D. James Kennedy endorsing Tom Horn's controversial book, The Gods Who Walk Among Us.

Tom is not always known to agree with leading religious conservatives, though he considers himself one. The "Lion of the Pulpit," as some of his fundamentalist friends call him, has actually gone out of his way over the past five years to pull the ears of anybody who would listen, especially with regard to what he perceives as serious theological and political problems within the Neoconservative Bush administration, not the smaller-government conservatives like those of the Reagan-era.

The endorsement by Kennedy is additionally interesting, given that the senior pastor of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church is the conference organizer for "Reclaiming America For Christ" and behind the scenes muscle who paved the way for the much hullabaloo'd "Justice Sunday", where Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist gave his speech, "Stopping the Filibuster Against People of Faith."

During the live broadcast, hosted by FRC Action, the legislative arm of the Family Research Council, which reached an estimated 61 million households in 44 states, Frist threatened to ban Democrats from filibustering Bush's judicial nominees. A vote on changing Senate rules--to get around the Democrat filibusters--is expected this week.

"Speakers at the two-day conference included some of the most prominent figures on the Christian right: Christian historian David Barton, the head of WallBuilders; columnist David Limbaugh, author the bestselling book Persecution: How Liberals Are Waging War Against Christianity; Dr. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission; Dr. Wanda Franz, president of the National Right to Life Committee; Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association; Alan Sears, president of the Alliance Defense Fund; Dr. Daniel Dreisbach, author of Thomas Jefferson and the Wall of Separation Between Church and State; and Dr. Rick Scarborough, president of Vision America."
Berkowitz, like others, connects the dots between the Reclaiming America For Christ conference and Justice Sunday.

With regard to the book by Tom Horn, Dr. Kennedy wrote:
